If you’re wondering if it's possible to copy and paste the data from an external source, it definitely is possible. However, the templates have certain data validations that need to be cleared before copy-pasting the data.
Following are a few things to remember while copy-pasting data from external source:
- You will need to manually enter the activity identifier for the activities whose result you’re uploading.
- Assign a Result code (in the format Rxxx) to each result. Match the Result Identifier to the Indicator in the Indicator, Baseline, Period tab.
- For the fields where the IATI has defined a codelist, you can either use the codes or their respective names. For example: When reporting the Result type as ‘output’, either ‘1’, ‘output’,’1 - Output’ can be entered.
Note:
-
- If you’re entering the name, please make sure the spelling is correct
- If you’re entering the code, make sure that the code you’re entering is the correct one
While using Google Sheets templates

- Depending on your preference, select the relevant column whose validation you want to clear or click on ‘Remove all’ to remove all the validations from column D to S.
For Indicator, Baseline, Period tab:
- Select the range B2:AA1000 and right click.
- Select ‘View more cell actions’ and ‘Data Validation’. A menu will appear on the right hand side of the screen.

While using system downloaded templates
